波兰电台The sound of the world’s first electroacoustic radio station takes centre stage at one of London's Baroque churches for the next University of Greenwich Loudspeaker Orchestra 音乐会.

St Alfege Church is the venue for an evening of experimental music from the 波兰电台 Experimental Studio (PRES) on Thursday 23 March.

The show begins with a pre-音乐会 talk from 6.30pm with Michal Libera, producer of Bôłt Records, a Polish label founded in 2008 as a medium for experimental music practices in Eastern Europe.

Dr Andrew Knight-Hill runs the Loudspeaker Orchestra. He said: “PRES was founded in 1957 to create musical 'illustrations' for movies, radio and television. It was a place of artistic freedom across three decades between 1960s to 1980s.

“As one of only a few studios in Eastern Europe with electronic music equipment, PRES was a centre of research into the possibilities of tape music. It saw the creation of many original electroacoustic works, by composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Elżbieta Sikora, Włodzimierz Kotoński, and Bohdan Mazurek.

"St Alfege has a rich musical history. Thomas Tallis is believed to have played the organ t在这里 in the 16th century and we bring it right up-to-date with the Loudspeaker Orchestra series.”
